One of my favorite bits of folklore I have stumbled upon was about Pirates: The skull-and-crossbones (Jolly Roger) wasn’t just about scaring victims—it also symbolized rebellion against oppressive powers. Pirates drew on old associations of the skull with both fear and defiance. In some seafaring lore, sailors wore skull tattoos or charms for protection against drowning—a belief that death “already marked” them, so the sea wouldn’t take them.
The center of this bracelet features a Tierracast skull charm. Dangling from that is a little quartz point wrapped in stainless steel. To me, it is a symbol of strength. It could be interpreted as a sword or as a soul. For this bracelet, I used 8mm biotite for the primary band of the bracelet. It reminds me of the dark colored wood often depicted on images of Pirate's Ships.
This bracelet was strung on latex-free stretch cord. It will fit wrists up to 7.5”.
